'Hazardous Waste Personnel', defined by US EPA RCRA regulations as "...all persons who work at, or oversee the operations of,  a hazardous waste facility and whose actions or failure to act may result in noncompliance with the requirements (of the RCRA regulations)."  This includes personnel at large quantity (LQG) and small quantity (SQG) generator facilities.  While training is not required for VSQGs (very small quantity generators), they may find value in having employees trained.

Common job responsibilities of hazardous waste personnel:

• Overseeing waste personnel or operations

• Choose hazardous waste containers

• Identifying and/or characterizing solid and hazardous waste

• Operating a waste generating process

• Reading and applying Federal or state hazardous waste regulations

 

 

Upon successful course completion, you will:

• Understand Generator Requirements including thresholds and requirements

• Learn the definitions and meaning of Hazardous Waste Identification

• Identify the requirements of the Hazardous Waste Manifest

• Know the basics of the Used Oil and Universal Waste Regulations
